Urethroplasty

Two weeks ago tomorrow I had the buccal transplant urethroplasty. At present my mouth is still a bit sore and somewhat swollen while the cobblers are delicate and supported by a lump of combine dressing jammed between my legs and held in place by my undies. The incision is not actually covered by a dressing. I'm too much of a wimp to look but it seems that it's healed well. Under Dr. Wong's instructions and Sister Hong's threats I'm having a salt bath at least once a day to aid the healing processes. This is a doddle - a small handful of salt in some warmish water in the bath. Sit there for ten minutes then shower. Still catheterised and will be until after confirmation of a successful graft. On 19 February will be going back to Strathfield Private Hospital for a cathetergram. That will tell if the graft has taken and then nice Sister Hong can reef out the catheter.
The operation went OK and recovery was fine. As usual though and even after receiving some IV fluids post-procedure by the time we came home on Thursday I was feeling unwell. I managed to stay away but by Saturday I had to given way to the Little Worker again and off we trip to Canberra Hospital for more fluids, confirmation of dehydration and hyponatraemia and an over-night stay.
The Little Worker continues to cope with all this and more... on Friday torrential rain, cyclonic winds, thunderstorms over our house [just our house] caused tiles to move and allow litres of water into the roof space. Drip, drip into to dining room. Dribble, dribble down the walls of the lounge room. Drip, drip , dribble, dribble. Empty cupboards, move buckets around, move furniture, call Emergency Services. I'm useless so just keep away from the scenes of damp activity.
By Friday evening, the SES have been and gone, leaving some sand-bags holding ridge-caps and tiles in place. The insurance company's assessor is wandering around, taking photos, quasimodoing his way around the roof-space. I'm knackered and the Little Worker is in charge so all's right with my world.
