I'm a big fan of Terry Pratchett's work and of all the memorable characters he has created my favourite - by a long way - is Death. If Death was active in this sphere instead of the Discworld then he and his horse Binky must be knackered by now.
In addition to the recent events in Pacific region; earthquakes and tsunami, another person we know has died.
Zorana Grbic wasn't someone we knew well. We only knew her in the late '80s when our kids attended Narrabundah Cottage childcare. Zorana had two children there at the same time: Sasha and Stefan. Zorana built up a successful career in Canberra, often used as an example of a successful local business woman. Later she relocated to the South Coast of NSW where she continued to be involved in quality food outlets. She wrote several recipes books and every now and then I'd see her name in print and on the web.
According to a notice in the Canberra Times today, Zorana passed away on 30 September 2009.
She was only 50
