It's 00:23, I'm confined to study while The Little Worker wraps things next door. I'm absolutely knackered; my eyes are trying to play hide and seek in their sockets and I still have my wrapping to do and so does my son.. Both kids have returned home temporarily for Christmas - which is sort of cute. I did half-seriously suggest that we organise for their presents to be transported to their current dwellings rather than here but it would have been too cruel.
Have had a busy Christmas Eve: cut the grass, did some serious pruning and lopping on the Protea bush which was almost blocking the steps up to the garage. It's now been tamed; two boot-loads of cuttings taken to the green waste recycling at the local tip and a full green waste bin. Also did some last-minute grocery shopping; essentials like milk and bread and stuff for the Vietnamese spring rolls for tomorrow: prawns and chicken.
Via Facebook I found out last night that a friend's dog had died.. that put another dampener on the day. Some pictures on Facebook tonight showed Rosie in her little coffin with her favourite toys and belongings. It was so sad - lump in the throat time again :'(
Tonight after dinner we watched A Christmas Carol - based on Dicken's short story. A good adaptation made in 1984 with George C Scott as Scrooge. Of course the kids were bored with it.
The rustling sounds are tailing off next door - could be my turn soon...
