Last week saw a return to something approaching normality for me. Back to my usual three-day working week. Good to return, very therapeutic apart from a 'bad back' that is.
Not sure what I did to my back but it's sore and sitting makes it worse.
Had physio on Friday which included a fair amount of both dry needling and massage. The needling relaxes the muscles while the massage and manipulation tries to make my back a bit more mobile.
I've never been flexible and as I get older the more like Treebeard I become. Still, the physio seems to be working although by Friday afternoon I was very sore and very tired.
I was also a bit low; had been to the podiatrist for one of the regular check-ups and found out that my right big toe had develooed another sub-dermal bruise. So this meant remival of the surface callused skin, another opened wound, more dressings, more "rest your foot" and more "wear the Darko shoe until it heals."
Damn, blast and bugger.
The bright spots were there was only a small area involved and no sign of infection.
The Darko shoe is basically a heavy-duty open-toed sandal. It keeps the foot protected by having an over-large sole that gives a bumper in front of the toes but no protection from above or even water.
So much for getting back to normal.
I think I won't be at work next week as wearing a sandal prevents me from entering certain areas at work, like the lab and stores areas.
